The Chatham County Center of North Carolina Cooperative Extension, in partnership with the Chatham County Beekeepers’ Association (CCBA), is excited to announce that registration is open for our 2025 in-person eight-week beekeeping school!

Dates: Mondays, 6:30-9:00 p.m. from January 13-March 10, 2025

Please note: no class on Monday, January 20, 2025 for observation of Martin Luther King, Jr. holidayMarch 17, 2025 will be a makeup day for inclement weather if needed

Location: Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center, Pittsboro, NC

The course will be taught by experts in the field of beekeeping and pollinator habitat who are associated with both the CCBA and Cooperative Extension, and topics will range from the basics to pest control to planting for honey bees.

Cost:
 The cost of the 2025 Introduction to Beekeeping course will be $100 for an individual attendee. Additional attendees from the same household may register for $30 per person.

Apply for the 2025 Chatham Youth Beekeeping Project!

With the generous sponsorship of the Chatham County Beekeepers’ Association, one lucky youth in Chatham County will have the opportunity to win an all-paid scholarship to attend the 2025 Chatham County Beekeeping School in Pittsboro, gain invaluable mentorship from CCBA members, and receive a hive of their very own at the project completion! All Chatham County youth between the ages of 13-18 are eligible to apply. Youth must submit an application sheet and essay to the Chatham County 4-H office by Dec. 10th for consideration. Complete contest rules and application instructions are available online here.
